Jessica is trying to convince her coach that she is shooting better from the free throw line than last year. Last year she made 40 out of 50 free throws. This year Jessica has made 74 out of 100 free throws. Is Jessica right that she is actually shooting better from the free throw line this year? Explain

No, Jessica is wrong. I know this because last year 40/50=80 which means she made 80% of her free throw shots. This year 74/100=74 which means she only made 74% of her free throw shots this year so no her shooting is worse this year.
Jessica's shooting got worse in the last year. She made 80% last year, and made 74% this year. That is why she is wrong.

ReplyDeleteJessica was incorrect because last year her total number of shots made were 40 out of 50. So multiply both by 2 she made 80 shots out of 100. But this year she only made 74 shots out of 100. So this proves that Jessica is wrong and she acctually got worse at shooting over the year.
