GP 3 Week 3 (DUE 1/29/16)

At a baby shower, we started discussing baby statistics. One of the women told us she had heard a report that for every 100 babies born, there were 6 more boys than girls. If we were to randomly pick a child from a representative group, what is the probability of picking a girl?

I got 47% chance of picking a girl. If you split 100 in have, you get 50. So since it has to be 6 away, I split 6 in have and added 3 to 50 and subtracted 3 from 50 and got 53 out of 100 boys and 47 out of 100 girls.

My answer is the probability of picking a girl is 47%. First you divide 100 by 2 , and get 50. Then you divide 6 by 2, and get 3. Then you add 3 and 50 together, and you get 53. So it's 53/100 boys. But it's also 47/100 girls.

The probability of girls is 47. If u divid 100 and 50 by 2 then u get 50 and 3. So u subtract 50 by 3 and you get 47. Since there were 6 more boys than girls the 47 would be girls and the 53 would be boys.So its 47 Out of 100 girls and 53 out of 100 boys.

  8. The probability of a girl would be a 47% chance. First, if you split 100 in half to get 50. Then split the 6 in half and add the 3 from the split 6 to 50,Then subtract 3 from the split 6 from the other 50. So in total, it would 53 out of 100 boys and 47 out of 100 girls

47% us the probability of it being a girl.
    First I divided 100 by 2 and got 50.
    Next I divided 6 by 2.
Then subtracted 3 from fifty and got 47 then added 3 to fifty and got 53.
So 47 out of the 100 are girls.

  16. So the probability of picking a girl is 47%. First I divided 100/2 and got 50. Then you divide 6/2 and get 3. Then add 50+3 and get 53. So its 53/100 boys.

  18. Jackson 1: The answer is that the probability of a girl is 47%. I got this answer because half of 100 is 50. After that, I divided 6 and got 3. After doing that, I added 3 to 50 and got 53% and I subtracted 3 from 50 and then the final answer I got was 47%.
