GP 3 Week 9 Due 3/23

Joe's Taxi Service charges $1.50 for the first mile and $.90 for each additional mile. How far could Mr. West go if he had $20 and was going to give the driver a $2 tip?

OR

Use at least three sentences to describe a concept or word that you learned in your math class this week.  You also may use the three sentences to describe something you do not understand.

  1. I took 20 dollars minus the tip and the first mile (1.50). Then I divided 16.50 by .90 and got 18.333333. For $20 Mr. West could go 19 miles.

  2. first i subtracted 2 from 20. then i also subtracted 1.50 from 18 and i got 16.5. then i subtracted .9 from that until i couldnt go any further. my answer was 19 miles. (PERIOD 2)

  3. First I subtract 2 from 20 to get 18. The i subtracted 1.50 from 18 to get 16.50. After this i divided 16.50 by .90 to get 18.3 repeated. So Mr. West can go 19 miles for $20.

  4. .1 I learned in science class how different boundry lines effected the earth. The three boundry lines are divergent, transform, and convergent. all of these make and move on earth causing different land or ocean formations.

  14. Mr.West can travel 19 miles. I got my answer by subtracting 2 by 20 which equals 18.Then subtracted 1.50 by 18 and that answer was 16.50.I also divided 16.50 by 0.90 which solves to 18.3333. Then i rounded it to 19.

Mr. West can travel 19 miles. I know this because 20-2=18 and 18-1.50= 16.50. Then I divide 16.50 by .90 which was 18.3333, and I then add the first mile (1) which is now 19.3333. I then round it up and ended with 19 miles. That's how I got my answer of 19 miles.

  21. Mr. West can travel 19 miles. I figured this out by subtracting 20-2 which equals 18. Then 18-1.50= 16.50. Then I divided 16.50 by .90 which equaled 18.3333. Then you have to add the first mile, 1, which then makes it 19.3333. When you round up you get 19 miles.

  22. Mr. West can travel 19 miles with his funds. I figured this out by doing 20-2 came out to 18. Next, I did 18-1.50= 16.50. Then, I did 16.50 ÷ .90 which came out to equal 18.3333. Then you have to add the first mile, so + 1, which makes it 19.3333. Then, you take 19.333, round it, and you get 19 miles.

Mr. West can travel 19 miles. I got 19 miles by 20-2=18 and 18-1.50=16.50. 16.50/90=18.3333. Then you add the one mile and get 19.3333. 19.3333 rounded is 19 miles.

  24. Mr.West traveled at least 14 miles, this is so because I times 1.50 times 15 and i got my answer. So therefore he traveled 14 miles and he would give the driver 23 dollars. Jnique Nelson Per;4

I have found out the Mr.West can go about 18 miles. I know this because if you subtract 2 from 20 you will get 18. After that if you subtract 1.5 from 18 you will have 16.5. Then lastly If you divide 16.5 from .90 you will have !8.3 and so on. So if you round it you will end with 18.
