GP 3 Week 5 Due 2/23

In the old days there were elevator operators to transport passengers. Don Downs always started his day in the basement. He went up 20 floors to take his boss some coffee. Then he went down 8 floors to take a Danish to his friend. He went up 7 floors to check things out. This was the halfway point in the building. How many floors are in this building?

Use at least three sentences to describe a concept or word that you learned in your math class this week.  You also may use the three sentences to describe something you do not understand.

  1. There is a total of 38 floors in this building. I used the equation 20-8+7= to get my answer. i hope i got it right.

  2. i got 36 floors. i got this because if he starts at the basement and goes up 20 floors he goes to floor 19. then if he goes down 8 he gets to floor 11. he also goes up 7 more floors which takes him to floor 18. and if he is halfway up then you would have to multiply by two which gets 36. (PERIOD 2)

  4. Period 1 . there is 38 floors in the building beccause you do 20-8+7 which is 19 and then they said that whatever answer you got is the half way mark of the hotel and then since its the half way mark there is 19 more floors so 19 times 2 is 38 so thats my answer

there are 38 floors in the building.i got my answer from when you do 20-8+7 which = 19 and then the problem states whatever your previous answer you solved for the halfway markof the hotel and then since the half way mark there is 19 more floors so then u do 19 times 2 and it = 38 so that is how i got my answer

  7. Ther are 38 floors, I know this because 20-8+7=19,19 is the half way ,so if you double 19 it turns out to be 38

  8. 1. there are 38 floors because 20-8+7=19.19 is half of 38 so i knew i had the right answer.

There are 38 floors. I know this because 20-8+7= 19. Then to get 38 you multiple 19 by 2.

there are 38 floors.i got my answer by 20+8+7=19 and you gotta multiply 19 by 2 to get 38. that is how i found the answer 38

  11. period 1. there is 38 floors. i got my answer by doing the equation 20+8+7=19. then do 19 times two equals 38 that's how i got my answer.

  13. There are 38 floors in this building. The way I got my answer was by doing 20-8+7=19 and in the problem it says that you are half way done with the problem. so what did was do 19*2 and got 38. that is my answer for thing problem.

There are 38 floors in the building. I know this because I did the equation 20+8+7=19. So I got 19 then I multiply by 2 and got 38. This is the method i used to get my answer.

  15. There are 38 floors in the building.I know bc I did 20+8+7=19.I then multiplied 19 by 2 and got 38.

  16. If he went up 20 floors and then went down 8 and then up 7 there would be 35 floors all together. If you 20+8+7=35 i added all the numbers together to get the answer. So there are 35 floors in the whole building. Jnique Nelson Per:4

  17. What I got is 38. I got my answer by doing 20+8+7=19.I got 19 and it said it was the halfway point so i doubled 19 and got 38.

  18. p.4 There is 38 floors. I got this by adding 20-8+7=19. Then I multiplied 19 and 2 and I got 38 and that is how I got 38.

  22. the answer is 38 floors. I got my answer from doing 20-8+7 which = 19. The question says that that answer is the "halfway point". So that means there is 19 more floors, so 19 x 2 = 38.

  23. Period 3
There are 38 floors. The answer I got was because 20-8+7 is equal to 19. since the answer is the halfway point, the answer is 38.

  24. There are 38 floors in the building. I know this because he starts at the bottom floor and then goes up 20. THen he goes down 8 floors. Which is 20-8=12. Then he goes up 7 floors which is 12+7=19. It then talks about that that is the halfway point so you multiply it by 2. Which is 19*2=38 that is how many floors there is.

If he starts in the basement and goes up 20 then down 8 then back up 7,he went up 19 floors. This means there are 38 floors in the building.Half of 38 is 19 so 20-8+7=38 or 19 divided by 1/2 equals 38 floors.

There are 38 floors in the building. I got this because 20-8=12. Then he goes up 7 floors. Then 20+7=19 then it goes up to the half way point.

There are 38 floors in the building.I know this because he starts at the basement then go up 20 i subtracted 8 from 20 then i added 7 and i got 19. I multiplied 19 times 2 and got 38

There are 38 floors in this building. The reason why is because he started from the bottom and went up to 20th floor. He then goes down 8 floors (20-8=12). Then he goes up 7 floors (12+7=19). AS it it takes him to the halfway point, you multiply it by 2 (19*2+38). There so you got the answer of 38 floors.

  30. Period 2
Starting at the basement and going up 20 floors gets him to floor 20. He then goes down 8 floors, taking him to floor floor 12. After going up 7 floors, he's at floor 19. 19 times 2 is 38, so there are 38 total floors.

There are 38 floors. He went up 20 floors, then went down 8 floors. 20-8 is 12. After he goes up 7 more floors, got got 12+7 floors which is 19. 19*2=38 because it takes him to the halfway point. So there are 38 floors.

  33. I got 38 floors. I got 38 because he went up 20 floors from the basement. After that he goes up 7 more floors and I got 19. After that down 8 and gets to floor 11 then goes up 7 now hes at the 18th floor. Now he is at the halfway mark. From there you multiply 19 times 2 and it is 38.

he went up to the twentieth floor then went down 8 floors putting him on the 12th floor. Then he went up 7 floors putting him on the 19th floor. Then 19 times 2 is 38 so there are 38 floors in total.

One thing I learned in class was exponential decay. It shows differently on a graph it decreases. Growth and decay show up or down on the graph and can't be both
