GP 2 Week 9 (Due 1/19)

Dante and Jarrod were arguing who made more money at their job.  Dante made $220 a week while Jarrod made $50 a week plus $8.00 per hour.  How many hours would Jarrod need to work to make more money than Dante?  Use three sentences to help justify your answer.

OR

Use at least three sentences to describe a concept or word that you learned in your math class this week.  You also may use the three sentences to describe something you do not understand.

  1. 170.00 divided by $8.00 = 21.25 hours

Jarrod would need to work 21 and 1/2 hours to make more than $220.00 or more than Dante.

Jarrod would need to work 21.25 hours. By working 21.25 hours he will make the same amount as Dante. This is because 220-50=170/8=21.25

  3. Jarrod would have to work 22 hours to make more money than Dante. If you times 8.00 times 22, you get 170. Then you have to add 50 dollars to that, and it'll equal $226, which is 6 dollars more than Jarrod makes in a week.

Jarrod would have to work over 21.25 hours to make MORE than Dante.

I got this answer by subtracting the $50 dollars that Jarrod made for the week from the $220 dollars that Dante made and got $170 dollars.

I then took the remaining $170 dollars and divided that by $8.00 that he would make per hour and arrived with the answer 21.25 hours to make the SAME amount of money that Dante made.

So anything MORE than 21.25 hours would mean Jarrod would make MORE money than Dante

  8. He need to work 21 and 1/2 hours to make more than $220.00. I know this because when i subtract $50 dollars that Jarrod made in one week from $220 that dante made and i got $170. Then I took 170 and divided it by 8 dollars that he makes each hour, which equals 21.25. So it would take him 21 and 1/2 hours.

  11. If Jarrod wants to make more money than Dante, he would have to work 22 hours. I got this by multiplying 22 by 8 and got 176. Then I added 176 and 50 and got 226.

When I was looking through the comments I saw 21 1/2 hours and it can be that because it said per hour not half an hour so they are not getting full pay for that hour if im not mistaking.

Dante would need to work 21 1/2 hours to make more than Jarrod in a week. Because if you subtract 50 from 220, you would get 170. 170 divided by 8 is 21.25.

Jarred is going to be needing 21 hours and 1/4 more time which is known as 15 minutes to make more money than Dante. Now how i got 21 hrs is 220 subtract 50 = 170 then divide 8 =21.25.
The 25 is what represents 1/4 or known as 15 minutes.
