GP 2 Week 8

Wendy is starting a catering business and is attempting to figure out who she should be using to transport the food to different locations. She has found two trucking companies that are willing to make sure her food arrives intact. Peter’s Pick Up charges $0.40 per mile and charges a flat fee of $68. Helen’s Haulers charges $0.65 per mile and charges a flat fee of $23.

For what distance would the cost of transporting to the produce be the same for both companies? What is that equal cost?

  1. The distance would be 180. I got my answer by 68 - 23 = 45.
    Next I took .65 - .40 = .25. Then I took 45 / .25 = 180. Next .25 / .25 = 1.
The equal cost is 180 miles.

  3. distance is 180.68 -32=45.
    .65-.40=.25 . 45/.25 =180 next .25/.25=1
the equal cost is 180 miles

  5. 180.68 -32=45.
    .65-.40=.25 . 45/.25 =180 next .25/.25=1
the equal cost is 180 miles

  6. 180 miles because $23 plus $0.65 per mile then $68 plus $0.40 would be 180 mile

  7. The distance is 180.68 -32=45.
    .65-.40=.25 . 45/.25 =180 next .25/.25=1
so the equal cost is 180 miles

  8. the answer i got was 180. I got my answer by subtracting 68 and 32. The answer i got from that was 45. I also subtracted 65 and 40 to get 25. 45/25=180. Then 25/.25=1.
so the cost would be 180 miles.

  9. The distance would be 180. I got this answer by 68 minus 23 equals 45.
    then I took .65 minus 40 equals .25. I took 45 divided by .25 equals 180. then i 25 divided by.25 equals 1
the cost is 180 miles. England1

  11. The equal cost is 180. I got this by taking 68 - 32 and I got 45. Then, I took 0.6 - 0.40 and got 0.25. 45 divided by 0.25 is 180.

  12. the distance is 180 i got the answer by subtracting 68 and 32 the answer i got was 45 and i subtracted 65 and 40 and i got 25 45/25 equals 180 25/25 equals 1
    the answer would be 180

  13. The distance would be 180. The equal total cost is $140. First equation is y=0.40x+68. Second equation is y=0.65x+23. Substitute the "x", with 180 in order to check.

  14. the distance will be 180. the equal total cost is 140$. the first equation is y=0.040+68.

  15. The first truck is 68 = 0.40x + y and the second truck is 23 = 0.65x + y. Let x be the distance and y be the cost. To solve this problem, first I start using substitution equation. So I set the first equation to y = 68 -0.40x then I substitute this in to the second equation and solve for x. In 180 miles, the cost will be $140 for both of the trucks.
