This is a two part question
If you buy 5 candy bars and a bag of $4.00 gummy worms, the variable expression 5c + 4 represents the total cost of the purchase.
1) If your bill came to $21.00 how much did each candy bar cost?
Suppose the next day you went back to the store and bought 3 DVDs and a video game for $30. 2) Write a variable expression to represent this purchase
1) If your bill came to $21.00 how much did each candy bar cost?
Suppose the next day you went back to the store and bought 3 DVDs and a video game for $30. 2) Write a variable expression to represent this purchase
If the bill came to $21.00 dollars the cost of the candy bars would be three dollars and 40 cents the reason I got that is because I multiply 3.40 times 5 and it equaled 21.00 dollars. If I went back to the store the DVDs would cost 5 dollars each and for the video game it would cost 15 dollars and if you add all that it would equal 30 dollars.
ReplyDelete1. Each candy bar should be $3.40. If we subtract $4 from $21, we would get $17 left. Because there's 5 candy bars, we would need to divide 17 by 5, leaving us with $3.40.
ReplyDelete2. The variable expression for the 3 DVDs and the video game should be 3d+30. 30 because of the $30 video game. Since we don't know how much the DVDs cost, we need to substitute it with a variable,d, and there was 3 DVDs bought, so 3d. Putting them together would give us 3d+30.
Part 1: The cost per candy bar is $3.40. I know this because 21-4=17 17 divided by 5 is 3.40 there fore the cost per candy bar is $3.40.
ReplyDeletePart 2: A variable to represent this purchase is $30+3C. I know this because if the video game is $30 the variable could be $30+3C the 3C represents the cost of 3 DVDs.
1.each bar would be $3.40 b/c i mutilated 3.40 times 5 that equaled 17. so each bar would $3.40.
ReplyDelete2.A variable for this problem is 30+3c.
If the bill came up to $21.00 then that means each candy bar was $3.40. I got this by multiplying 3.40 by 5 and got 17.
ReplyDeleteA variable for this problem is 3d+30. 3d is the 3 DVD'and the 30 is for the $30.
If you subtract the amount of the gummy worms from the total amount,(21.00-4.00=17.00). If you divide 17.00 and 5 (5 being the candy bars) you get 3.4 meaning that each candy bar was $3.40.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to explain number 2 but 3d+30
1. Each candy bar will be $3.40. You got to subtract $21 and $4. That equals $17. There is 5 candy bars so we would have to divide 17 and 5. And you would get $3.40.
ReplyDelete2. The variable expression is 3d+30. We dont know how much the dvds cost so we put the variable d. The video game is 30$ so thats why its 3d+30
lorenzo dotson p.1 .1. I think the candy bar was 9.00.
ReplyDelete.2. I think the varble expression will be 3D+30
1) Each candy bar would cost $3.40. I know this because if I solve the equation 5c+4=21 I would get 5c=17. Then, I would divide 17 by 5 and I would get c=3.4 the same thing as $3.40.
ReplyDelete2)The variable expression would be 3d+30. I know this because if you buy 3 DVD's and a video game for $30 you would have to find out how much DVD cost to know the total pay.
1. When you solve the equation 5c+4=21, c = 3.4. First you subtract 4 from 21, then divide 17 by 5 and that equals 3.4.
ReplyDelete2. A variable expression would be 3d + 30 because we dont know how much the DVD's cost.
Amanda Embry period 2
ReplyDeletePart 1: The bill comes to $21.00 so you would subtract 4 for the gummy worms. When you do that it comes to $17.00 then you divide 17 by 5. So each candy bar is $3.40.
Part 2: The variable expression is going to be 3d+30.
Part 1: When you solve the equation 5c+4=21, c = 3.4. First you subtract 4 from 21, then divide 17 by 5 and that equals 3.4.
ReplyDeletePart 2: A variable expression would be 3d + 30 because we dont know how much the DVD's cost.
1. Each candy bar should be $3.40.I know this because I have to subtract $21 and $4.The equals $17, There are 5 candy bars so I would have to divide 17 and 5.than I would get $3.40.
ReplyDelete2.A variable expression would be 3d + 30. I know this because we don´t how much the DVD cost.
1.) Each candy bar will be $3.40. I know this because you have to subtract 21 from 4 to get 17. If your buying those 5 candy bars you have to divide 17 by 5 to get the total cost of those candy bars which is $3.40.
ReplyDelete2.) A variable expression would be 3d+30. I know this because we don't know how much each DVD costs.
1.) Each candy bar will be $3.40. Because what I did was subtract 21 from 4 to get the answer to 17. If you are buying 15 candy bars you have to divide 17 by 5 to get the total of the candy bars which is $3.40.
ReplyDelete2.) A variable expression would be 3d+30. I got this because what we don't know is how much each DVD costs.
One thing I learned this week is about the difference between Rational and Irrational numbers. I also learned that all fractions are rational. Those are what I learned in math.
ReplyDelete1) The cost of the candy bars would be $3.40. I know this because in the equation 5c+4=21, you subtract 4 from both sides. Then you bring down the 5 and solve 21-4, which is 17. Then you divide 5 from 5c and 17. This gets you $3.40.
ReplyDelete2)The variable expression would be 3d+30. I know this because if you buy 3 DVD's and a video game for $30 you would have to find out how much DVD cost to know the total pay.
1.) Each bar will be $3.40. Because what I did was subtract 21 from 4 to get the answer to 17. If you are buying 15 candy bars you have to divide 17 by 5 to get the total of the candy bars which is $3.40.
ReplyDelete2.) A variable expression would be 3d+30. I got this because what we don't know is how much each DVD costs.
each candy bar should be 3.40 i know this because 5c+4=21, you subtract from both sides. then you bring down the 5 and solve 21 minus 4 which is 17. then you divide 5 from 5c and 17 this get you 3.40
ReplyDeleteone thing i learned this week is about doing distributive property
and i also learned about fractions are rational and those are what i learned this week in math.
1) Each candy bar cost $3.40. I know this because i the equation 5c+4=21,you subtract the 4 from both sides which will give 5c=17.then divide 5 by 5c and 17. Which will get you c= 3.40.
ReplyDelete2)The variable expression is 3d+30. I know this because we don't know how much the 3 DVDs cost so it will be 3d plus the 30 that we know from the video game.Which will be 3d+30.
1.)Each candy bar would cost $3.40 because if you subtract 4 from 21 and then divide 20 by 5 and you get 3.4 and then add a zero at the end and you get the cost of the candy bars witch is 3.40 for 1 candy bar.
ReplyDelete2.) the variable expression would be 3d+30 i got this because we don't know how much money the DVDs costs
i know it dosent ask for the answer for the 2nd question but i want to give it to you anyways the answer to number 2 is $7.00 per DVD i got this by adding 30 to 21 and it made it 51 and then i subtracted 30 and divided 3 from it and got 7 and the expression i used was 3d+30=51.
When you solve 5c + 4 = 21 each candy bar would cost 3.40.I used inverse operations to solve? The next day would be 3d + v = 30.
ReplyDeletewhen you solve 5c+4=21 each candy bar would cost $3.40. I used inverse operations to solve. The next day would be 3d+v=30.
ReplyDeletewhen you solve 5c+4 equel 21 each candy bar would cost 3.40 i used in revesel operterion the nexr day would be 3d +v equle 30
ReplyDeleteWhen you solve 5c+4=21 each candy bar would cost $3.40.I used in verse operations the next day would be 3d+v=30.
ReplyDelete1.) The candy bar cost would be $3.40. The equation are 5c+4=21, when you subtracted 4 form both sides. You can bring down the 5 and solve 21-4 equals to 17. After that, you can divide from 5 with 17 equals to 3.40. So the answer is $3.40.
ReplyDelete2.) The variable expression is 3d+30. If you buy 3 DVDS and a video games for $30. You would know how much the DVDS cost in total.

ReplyDeleteOne thing I learned in math class this week was how to solve a math equation with like variables on both sides. Another thing I learned in math class this week was how to find if the equation has no solution,or many solutions. The last thing I learned in math class was some times the answer to a solving a problem could be a fraction or a decimal.
One thing I learned in math is how to do all types equations. One type I learned is 3 to 4 step equations and Mr. Jackson thought us how to get the variable by itself. I also learned what No solution,One solutions and, Many solutions meant this week!
ReplyDelete1. 5c+4=21. First you would subtract 4 from 21, then that would give you 17. Then divide 17 by 5, which equals $3.40.
ReplyDelete2. The expression would be 3d+30. D would represent the cost of the DVDs.

Arsean Mccullough period 3 One thing i learned this week was two step equations. I also learned that they can have no solution .The last thing i this was that two step equations could have many solutions.
ReplyDeleteIf the total cost of the candy bars is $21,then each candy bar cost 3 dollars and 40 cents. I got this because if you multiply 3.40 and 5 together that equals $21. The variable expression would be 30+3d.
ReplyDelete1. The cost of the candy bar will be $3.40. I know this because I subtract 21 and 4 to get 17. Then I divided 17 by 5 and I got $3.40.
ReplyDelete2. A variable expression is 3d+30.
The candy bar cost $3.40.I know this because I solved the equation 5c+4=21.You minus 4 on both sides then divide 17 by 5 and get 3.40.
ReplyDeleteThe variable expression to represent the purchase would be 3d+30.I know this because d represents the price for the 3 DVDS plus the 30 that was spent on the video game.
I dont really understand the stuff.Other than that i've had a good week. Its hard to understand.
ReplyDelete1. Each candy bar should cost $3.40. I know this because you would have to subtract 21 from 4. You would get 17. There are also 5 candy bars that you would need to find out how much they cost each. So you will have to divide 17 from 5 and you would get $3.40. So each candy bar costs $3.40.
ReplyDelete2. A variable expression would be 3d+30. I know this because we don't know how much each DVD costs.
