Grading Period 1, Week 2 (Due 9/15)

A sixth-grade class sells Yankees pennants and American Flags.  They earn $1 profit for each pennant sold and $6 for each flag sold.  They sell items at a total of $92.

 1) How many flags did they sell if they sold 20 pennants?

2) Create a different scenario of the amount of each item they could sell to equal $92.00  An example would be 1 flag and 86 pennants.

    They sold 12 flags. A possibility could be 44 pennants and 8 flags. 44 times 1 equals 44 and 8 times 6 is 48. 48 plus 44 equals 92 dollars.

The 6th graders sold 12 flags. They could have sold 10 flags and 32 pennants to equal $92. 10*6=60,32*1=32,60+32=92.

They could sell 8 flags and 44 pennants. That would equal $92.00. 8 flags 6 dollars each equals 48 and 44 pennants 1 dollar each equals 44 so 44+48=92.

    1) Your answer would end up being 12 flags sold. I know this because if you take 92 and subtract it by 20 you would get 72. Then if you divide 7 by 6 you will end up with 12.

    2) One scenario could end up with 14 flags. How you could get that is by taking 92 then subtracting it by 8 and you would get 84. Then if you take 84 and divide it by 6 you will get 14.

    1) The sixth grade class sold 12 flags. I know this because 92 dollars subbtracted by 20 pennants is 72 dollars. Then 72 dollars divided by 6 dollars for each pennant. Then thats your answer.

    2) Another way is 11 flags and 26 pennants. I know this because 6 dollars per flag times 11 flags is 66 dollars. Then 92 dollars subbtracted by 66 dollars is 26 pennants.

  33. They sold 12 flags. I took 92 and subtracted that by 20 and it got me 72. Then I divided the 72 by 6 and got 12.

  34. One other thin they could have done is 10 flags, and 32 pennants. I took 92 and subtracted that by 32 and got 60. after that i didvided that by 6 and got 10.

1.]They would have to sell 12 flags if they sold 20 pennants.

1.They sold 12 flags. I know this because 92-20=72. Then 72 divided by 6 for each pennant.
    2. Another way is 11 flags and 26 pennants. I figured this out by 6x11=66, Then 92-66=26.

1.) The six graders would have to sell 12 flags. If you subtract $20 from the pennants with the total $92 you will get $72. Then you divide $72 by 6. There so you get 12 flags.

2.) One way you can get the amount $92 is you sell 8 flags and 44 pennants. If you multiplied the 8 flags by $6 it will give you $48. If you also multiplied the 44 pennants by $1, you will get $44. When you add it up together, you will get the amount $92.

  38. If you sale 6$ flags to 20 pennants it is 120$ for 20 pennants and if you subtract 6 dollars 4 times it equals 96$

  39. Period 2
1- If they sold $20 worth of pennants so first you would do 92-20=72. Then you would do 72/6 which equals 12. So they sold 12 pennants.
2-They could sell 2 flags and 80 pennants to get $92.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They sold 12 flags and 20 pennants for question 1. For question 2 they sold 8 flags and 44 pennants. How I got my answer for question 1 was by multiplying 12 times 6 and you get 72. How I got my answer for question 2 was by multiplying 8 times 6 which equals 48 and add 44 to get 92.

  41. period 2
    1) They sold 12 flags cause 92-20=72. Then 72/6 equals 12 so this shows they sold 12 flags.
    2) They could get 11 flags and 26 pennants because 6*11=66. Then 92-66=26 pennants
