GP 3 Week 3 Due 2/10

At a baby shower, we started discussing baby statistics. One of the women told us she had heard a report that for every 100 babies born, there were 6 more boys than girls. If we were to randomly pick a child from a representative group, what is the probability of picking a girl?

OR

Use at least three sentences to describe a concept or word that you learned in your math class this week.  You also may use the three sentences to describe something you do not understand.

  1. Boys 53 Girls 47 53+47=100

    53 = 53% 47 = 47%
    100 100

The probability of picking a girl from 100 would be 47%

  2. The probability of picking a girl is 47 percent. Because it said that every 100 baby's there would be 6 boys so 100 minus 53 is 47.So you would have a probability of 47/100.

This week in mAth we learned about graphing on number lines. If the number of x is greater, less than or equal to the dot on the line is colored in. If the number is not equal to, the dot on the line is empty

  6. There are 6 more boys for every 100 babies born. This means the probability of picking a girl is 47%. I know this because I subtracted 53 from 200 and I got 47.

    56 boys and 44 girls

The probability of choosing a girl is 44% or 44/100=0.44

If in 100 babies there are 6 more than girls then 100-(50+6)
    100-56=44
Out of 100 babies, the percentage of the girls would be 44%.

  9. One concept i learn this week was how to graph a number line. When graphing a number line and you are using a symbol there is two different ways to graph it. You can have an open symbol or a closed symbol. If a symbol is less than or greater (it will have the symbol with a line under it) there will be a closed circle. If there isn't a circle it will be a open circle.

  11. One thing I learned this week was how to graph linear inequalities. You use a dashed line for less than or greater than and a solid line for greater than or equal too and less than or equal too. Then test point not on line to see if solution then shade side that has the solution.

If there happens to be 100 babies you can subtract 54 from 100. You get 46. So the percentage of the girls is 46%

one thing I learned this week was how to rearrange an equation. well first you move the "x" in the problem. the rewrite the right side of the problem. then graph it on the grid and give a solution.

    1. You copied and pasted Caleb Simpson's exact answer. Try again using your own words. Come on Amir!! If you're going to copy at least change a few words.

It says that there are 6 more boys than girls. So that means 56b and 44g. That is 44% of girls.

One thing I learned this week was how to solve absolute value equations. There will be two answers for example: x=5 or x=-7. To solve you have to get the variable alone and all the numbers on one side. If you can't solve it will be no solution.

  21. I learned how to solve absolute value equations. When do do the absolute value equal you will end up with 2 answers or two different points. For example x=-7,7 . And for u to solve it you have to get all the variables on one side and all the numbers on one side. And if u can't solve it it comes out to no solution.

  25. At a baby shower, we started discussing baby statistics. One of the women told us she had heard a report that for every 100 babies born. So the probability getting a baby girl is 47 out of 100 with make it 47 percent. That make girl more special then boy seen girl are less then boy.

  26. There would be a 47% chance of girls. I divided 100 in half and got 50. If there is about 6 more boys than girls I added 3 to 50 and subtracted 3 from the girls. That left me with 53% of boys and 47% of girls.

This week in math class we learned how to solve inequality and graph the equation.
As an example x+8>-10.First you would do 8-8 and -10-8 and get -18. The final answer would be x>-18.

  28. This week in class i learned absolute value. Absolute value is how many steps away from zero a number is. An example is |7|=7 because the absolute value of seven is seven because its seven steps away from zero.

The probilaity of a girl is 47% because the 47 is for girls and how i know is by add 47 to 6 and you would get 53. 53 would be for the boys and it said that there were 6 more boys then girl that how i know my numbers are correct.
and how i know for sure 47 is 47% because 47 is what the percentage for the girls.
    47% is the probilaty.
