GP 3 Week 3 Reflection (Due 1/30)
How do you find slope if you know two points on
a line?Find the slope of a line that has the following points (-2,3)
and (0,6)
To find slope you use the formula y2-y1 divided by x2-x1. When you use this formula you get the answer -4/2. The way I got this was after you use the formula the equation simplifies to 3/-2. When you solve this you get -1 and 1/2. Which improperly goes to -4/2.
Your formula/rule to find slope is correct, but you had a small computation error. 6-3 is not 4. This little error made the rest of your explanation wrong.
There are two easy ways to find the slope. Graphing is the first step I used, I can plot the points easily since they gave the two points to plot. The intersection for the slope is 3/2. Another method was using the slope formula, this save a lot of time while the graphing take more time. y2-y1 divided by x2-x1 which I got the same answer for the slope, 3/2.
Great answer Toe! Your explanation is wonderful. I think you misused the word intersection though. Intersection means the place where two lines cross. I think you meant to say the slope, the rise over the run, is 3/2. You are doing wonderful learning English. I am always happy to read your answers.
To find slope you use the formula y2-y2 divided by x2-x1. When you do this you get the answer -4/2.How I got this was after you use the formula it simplifies to 3/-2. When you solve this you get -1 and 1/2. And that goes improperly into -4/2
