GP 4 Week 4 Reflection (Due 4/24)

At a baby shower, we started discussing baby statistics. One of the women told us she had heard a report that for every 100 babies born, there were 6 more boys than girls. If we were to randomly pick a child from a representative group, what is the probability of picking a girl?

The probability of picking a girl is 47%. I found my answer by puting 50 for boys and for girls then i added 3 to the boys side then i subtracted 3 to the girls side. I got 53% for the boys side and i got 47% for the girls side.

  13. I agree with Kenneth Aronson because you would have to find a number that is 6 more than the girls' number, but they have to equal 100. The equation for this would be x-6+y=100. I found that 53 is 6 more than 47 and when i added them together i got 100. So, it would be 47% and 53%.
